All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Sabine Index - Freddie Behan 14 Jun 1957 - Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 10 at the Warren Community Baptist church for Freddie Behan, 16, of Route 4, Many, who was killed in a car wreck Saturday morning 18 miles north of Orange, Texas. Burial was held in Mt. Carmel cemetery under the direction of the Noguess Funeral Home of Orange. Two of the youth's brothers and his sister-in-law were injured in the wreck. They are Mr. and Mrs. Derrell Wayne Behan of Port Arthur, and Kenneth Behan, of Many. Darrell was reportedly critically hurt and was taken to a Beaumont hospital. Mrs. Behan and Kenneth were taken to an Orange hospital. Officers said the Behan auto collided with a transport truck on State Highway 235 north of Orange. The youth is survived by is parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Behan of Route 4, Many; five brothers, Austin, of the U. S. Army in Germany, Kenneth, Joe and Bobby, all of Many and Darrell Wayne of Orange, Tex.; a sister, Mrs. Gerald (Eunice) Oxley, of Lake Charles; and his grandmother, Mrs. Delpha Oxley of Many. Pallbearers were Freddie's classmates of Mt. Carmel High School: Bobby Montgomery, Bobby Hayes, Nolan Ainsworth, Lovan Westfall, Jimmy Pleasant, Fred Isgitt, Woodrow Briggs and Buddy Wilson.
