Burial was at New Ramah Cemetery near Haynesville. Mr. Benefield died Friday, September 4, 1987, at the North Claiborne Hospital in Haynesville, after a sudden illness. He was owner and operator of Benefield Bait and Tackle in Haynesville. He is survived by one son, Tony Benefield of Haynesville; one sister, Maude Holly of Haynesville; four brothers, Hershell Benefield of Haynesville, Horace Benefield of Lindsay, Okla., Harvey Joe Benefield of Noble, La., Haskell Benefield of Bossier City; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Jim B. Johnson, Lonnie Lewis, Donald Holly, Mickey Sims, Jim Benefield, Bill Benefield, Mike Benefield, and Melvin Smith Jr.
