All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mrs. Paula Luhn Bengston Last rites for Mrs. Paula Luhn Bengston, age 55, who died March 30, after an extended illness, was conducted at Many Methodist Church, at 2 p.m., April 1st, with Dr. Jolly B. Harper, and Dr. James Harris of Shreveport, and Dr. Kelly Fitzgerald of Many officiating. Interment was in Sealy Cemetery in Sealy, Texas, April 2, with Warren Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were members of the official Board of the Methodist Church, Marion Tannehill, Wayne Bostian, Dr. S. F. Fraser, Bill Creed, R. J. Petty, and Noel Tipton. Survivors are her husband, Rev. W. H. Bengston of Many; brother, Ben R. Luhn of Houston; step children, the Rev. Robert W. Bengston of Eunice, Dr. George W. Bengston of Lake City, Fla., Mrs. George Smith of DeQuincy, and Mrs. Cecil W. Rhodes Jr. of Natchez, Mississippi. Mrs. Bengston was born January 3, 1908, in Sealy, Texas, to Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Luhn. She graduated from the public school in Sealy, received her B. A. degree from West Texas State Teachers College of St. Marcus, Texas, and her Masters Degree from the University of Houston. She was a teacher in Texas Elementary School for 24 years. She was a life time member of the Methodist Church, most active in Church School, and Women's work. She became the bride of Rev. W. H. Bengston on Sept. 15, 1956, at Sealy Methodist Church. Since coming into the Methodist Parsonage, she has most ably assisted her minister husband in all the work of the church, fitting her charm and personality into every part of the churches program. The body lay in state at the Warren Funeral Chapel, from 12:00 Sunday, and was taken to Methodist Church, Monday, at 1 p.m. Graveside services were at 2 p.m., Tuesday, at Sealy, Texas.
