Bumgardner, 55, of Shreveport, were held at 9:30 a.m., Monday, May 5, at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Marshall Street Chapel, with the Rev. Kemuel Corkern, pastor of Red River Baptist Church, officiating. Masonic graveside rites were held at Red River Cemetery near Benton. Mr. Bumgardner died Friday morning, May 2, at his home, following a lengthy illness. A resident of Shreveport most of his life, he was a body and fender mechanic, and was a member of the Queensborough Baptist Church, and a mason. He is survived by his wife, Alice Bumgardner of Shreveport; two daughters, Joy Welland, and Janet Gates, both of Shreveport, and a stepdaughter, Anita Fincher of Memphis, Tenn.; four sisters, Mrs. Tom Elkins of Natchitoches, Mary Bass of Slidell, and Beth Sistrunk, and Ada Brown, both of Shreveport; and six grandchildren. Pallbearers were Robert Edwards, Herschell Garderson, Glen Bass, Tom Elkins, Dickie Wallace, and Frank Johnson.
