Benoit Sr. Teurling Joseph Benoit Sr., 57, of Shreveport, died at 8:33 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 17, in Willis-Knighton Hospital, after a long illness. Services were at 1 p.m., Monday, in the Wellman's Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. George C. Davis, pastor of South Park Church of God, officiating. Burial was in Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery. A native of Lafayette, Mr. Benoit had lived in Shreveport seven years. He was a retired truck driver, formerly employed by McLean Truck Line. Mr. Benoit was affiliated with South Park Church of God, and was a World War II veteran. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Irene Benoit of Shreveport; his mother, Mrs. Annie Dubois of Lafayette; a stepmother, Mrs. Dale Yarbough of Shinner, Tex.; one son, Teurling Joseph Benoit Jr. of Shreveport; two daughters, Mrs. Susan Marie Prescott of Shreveport, and Mrs. Karen Rita Augustine of Lake Charles; two brothers, Lonnie Benoit of Nederland, Tex., and Jimmy Melton Benoit of Many; six sisters, Mrs. Kate Rogers of Lafayette, Mrs. Rose Marie Van Hoose of Nederland, Mrs. Betty Kilgore of Lamberton, Tex., Mrs. Theresa Ann Cooper of Lake Charles, Mrs. Sherry Lorance of Beaumont, Tex., and Mrs. Yvonne Summer of Austin, Tex.; and five grandchildren.
