All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Linda Renae Burr A two year old Many Negro was killed when ran over by a car, at the lookout tower at Toledo Bend Dam (on the Texas side in Newton County), Sunday, June 30, about 6:55 p.m. The child was identified as Linda Renae Burr. Her mother is Dorothy M. Wilson. Two groups of Negroes from Many had gone to the dam site. Cleathel Alexander was driving a car, and leaving the observation tower, when the car hit the child. She was dragged about 70 ft. before the Alexander woman stopped the car. The accident was reported by Earlie Mae Maxie. The Alexander woman was charged by Newton County officials with failing to report an accident.
