Mrs. F. E. "Vermel" Byers

  Services for Mrs. F. E. "Vermel" Byers, 87, of Shreveport, were
held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 29, 1986, at Summer Grove Baptist
Church. The Rev. Wayne DuBose, pastor of Summer Grove Baptist
Church, where Mrs. Byers was a member, officiated. Burial was a
Zwolle Cemetery, at 4 p.m. Arrangements were under the direction
of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.

  Mrs. Byers died Saturday evening, April 26, 1986, at Willis
Knighton Hospital, following a brief illness.

  Mrs. Byers was preceded in death by her husband, F. E. Byers;
and four children, Carl Byers, Elvin Byers, Gertrude Bunting, and
Dorothy Wilson. She is survived by three sons, Fred Byers, Homer
Byers, and Berton Byers of Shreveport; two daughters, Blanche
Speakes Jergenson of Shreveport, and Ruthe Taylor of Kingsbury,
Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Annie Jane Grice of Shreveport; 33
grandchildren; and 37 great grandchildren.

  Pallbearers were her grandsons.
