Bruce, 63, were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 8, in the Calvary Baptist Church in Alexandria, with the Rev. John Alley, and the Rev. David Booth officiating. Interment was at 2 p.m., at Oak Grove Cemetery in Winnsboro, under the direction of Kramer and Son Funeral Home of Alexandria. Mr. Bruce was a veteran of World War II, a member, and deacon of Calvary Baptist Church in Alexandria, and was retired from Scott Truck and Tractor, after 43 years. He was a member of the staff at Kramer Funeral Home. He died on Monday, April 6, 1987, following a brief illness. Survivors include his wife, Lucille B. Bruce, Alexandria; two daughters, Judy Summerall, Hornbeck, La., and Ann Horton of San Angelo, Texas; one son, James E. Bruce Jr., Long Beach, Calif.; his mother, Ethel Bruce, Winnsboro; one brother, Leo "Bub" Bruce, Winnsboro; and five grandchildren.
