Oriell Bruce, lifelong resident of Natchitoches Parish, died Thursday, April 5, 2001, of cancer. He was born July 26, 1921, in Marthaville. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 7, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home, and Father Ken Roy officiated. Interment followed at Beulah Cemetery, with graveside services by evangelist Berry Bueche. "Paw B." affectionately nicknamed by his grandchildren, will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He served his country in Germany during World War II. He was the owner and operator of the Auto Center in Many for over 30 years. "O. D." was a hardworking man, who would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Virginia Anderson Bruce; three daughters, Judi O'Rear, Janet Webre, and Brenda Voisin; two sisters, Vera Stephens, and Fay Bruce; two brothers, Morris, and Dossie Bruce; and four grandchildren, Ginger Webre, Scott Webre, "R. B." Robert Brice Martin, and Rusty Voisin. Mr. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Alice Ballard and Andrew M. Bruce; and his brothers, Alton, and Albert Bruce.
