Bruce (Photo) Funeral services for Dr. Walter E. Bruce, 81, of Jackson, Miss., were held Sept. 14, at the Lakeshore Congregational Methodist Church in Jackson. Dr. Bruce was born Dec. 23, 1911, in Pleasant Hill. He was saved in 1933, at Jennings Chapel Church in Louisiana, and was called to preach that year. Dr. Bruce was sanctified in 1934. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree at God's Bible School and College in 1940, majoring in Bible. That same year, Dr. Bruce married Lois Lister. Dr. Bruce served in several areas of ministry, until his death last year. He is survived by his three children, Samuel Kaye, Mary Elizabeth, and William Anson; and by one grandson; and three granddaughters. Pallbearers were Mr. Paul Harwell, Mr. Preston Cook, Rev. Doug Feazell, Mr. Charles Driver, Mr. William Loper, Mr. Jamie Cook, Mr. Frank Gilmore, Mr. Coy Birdwell, and Airman Matthew Fuller. Honorary pallbearers were Rev. Billy Harrel, Mr. Hoyt Birdwell, Rev. Ned Chipley, Rev. John Ragsdale, Mr. Elton O'Connor, and Rev. Ed Fenton. Graveside services for Dr. Bruce were held at Zion Rest Cemetery in Shubuta, Miss. Graveside service leaders were Rev. Elmo McGuire, Rev. Doug Feazell, and Rev. Chris Lohrstorfer.
