Burke, 93, of Cheneyville, were held on Saturday, October 7, 1995, at the Krammer Funeral Home in Alexandria. Bro. Jim Peterson, along with 9 Masons from the Many Lodge #411, conducted the Masonic Rites at the cemetery. They were joined by other Masons from that area. Ora was born in Poland in 1902. He moved to Cheneyville in 1925, and petitioned the Cheneyville Lodge #286. He served as secretary there for 20 years. Mr. Burke retired at age 70, and moved to the Toledo Bend area in 1977, where he met and married Verda Brumley in 1978. Burke was honored by the York Rite College #99 in 1987, for outstanding contributions to the Masonic Order. Survivors are three daughters, Maxine Watkins, Helen Johnson, and Doris Earnest, who reside in the Alexandria area; several grandchildren, and great grandchildren; and a host of friends from the lodges he has served in. A presentation of six awards for Honesty and Integrity was held on Oct. 8, 1995, in memory of Ora J. Burke.
