Clara Norsworthy Briggs

  Funeral services for Clara Norsworthy Briggs, 87, were held
Wednesday, August 28, 1996, in the Warren Meadows Funeral Home
Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Allen officiating. Interment was at
Mt. Carmel Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows
Funeral Home.

  Mrs. Briggs passed away Monday, August 26, in Many. She was born
in Bellwood on December 26, 1908, to Wilson and Jane Hardaman
Norsworthy.

  Mrs. Briggs was preceded in death by her husband, Julian E.
Briggs.

  She is survived by two daughters, Juanita Elkins and her husband
Gene of Many, Clarice Dowden and her husband Buck of Port Arthur,
Tex.; two grandchildren, Glen Dowden of Port Arthur, Tex., and
Beth Allen and her husband, the Rev. Gary Allen of Many; and five
great grandchildren, Bradley, Brooke, and Seth Allen, and Glenda,
and Patrick Dowden. She is also survived by a host of nieces,
nephews, and close friends.

  Pallbearers were Glen Dowden, Patrick Dowden, Bradley Allen,
Tommy Joe Cox, Jimmie Rutherford, and Alfice Brumley.
