Mr. Byers, a Crockett, Tex. native, had lived in Shreveport for 25 years. He was a retired oil well drilling contractor. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, in the Rose-Neath Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Jack Merritt, pastor of the Ingleside Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial was in the Minden Cemetery. Immediate survivors include his widow, Mrs. Beatrice Byers, Houston; a son, Francis M. Byers, Buna, Tex.; two step sons, Charles Grimm, and Paul Grimm, both of Houston; four daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Chanler, Kilgore, Tex., Mrs. Mildred Wood, Kennewick, Wash., Mrs. Doris Thomas, Shreveport, and Mrs. Margie Green, Little Rock, Ark.; a brother, Elwood Byers, Zwolle; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Moss, Benton, Ark., and Mrs. Corrine Land, Raymondville, Tex.; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
