The Rev. Robert Miller officiated. Burial followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Converse, under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield. Mr. Burkett died Wednesday, July 8, 1987, in Shreveport, after a lengthy illness. He was a retired oil field worker, and farmer. He is survived by one son, Billy M. Burkett of Ringgold, La.; two daughters, Mrs. Johnnie Mae Etheredge of Joaquin, Texas, and Miss Elaine Burkett of Pollock, La.; one brother, N. L. Burkett of Bossier City; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren. Mr. Burkett was the grandfather of Sabine-DeSoto Parish District Attorney Don Burkett. Pallbearers were grandsons, and nephews.
