John Franklin Burkett

  Services for Mr. John Franklin Burkett, 82, of Converse, were
held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 10, at the Fellowship Baptist
Church in Converse. The Rev. Robert Miller officiated. Burial
followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Converse, under the
direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield.

  Mr. Burkett died Wednesday, July 8, 1987, in Shreveport, after a
lengthy illness. He was a retired oil field worker, and farmer.

  He is survived by one son, Billy M. Burkett of Ringgold, La.;
two daughters, Mrs. Johnnie Mae Etheredge of Joaquin, Texas, and
Miss Elaine Burkett of Pollock, La.; one brother, N. L. Burkett
of Bossier City; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren;
and two step great grandchildren.

  Mr. Burkett was the grandfather of Sabine-DeSoto Parish District
Attorney Don Burkett.

  Pallbearers were grandsons, and nephews.
