Arthur Mack Brister Sr., beloved pastor of First Baptist Church of Florien, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 25, following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 27, at 2 p.m., at First Baptist Church in Florien. Interment followed in the Florien Cemetery. The Rev. Ray Ludwig, the Rev. Lee Dickson, and Rev. Vernon Stephenson, and the Rev. Larry DeLoach officiated. Survivors include his widow, Bonnie Brister of Florien; one son, Dr. Mack Brister Jr. of Shreveport; one sister, Francis Brister Hunter of Bossier City; one brother, James Howard Brister of Deberry, Texas; mother, Mrs. R. A. Brister of Bunkie; and a host of friends. Bro. Mack was born September 2, 1937, in Vinton, and has served as pastor of several churches in north La., and east and central Texas. He has been pastor at Florien for 19 of his 39 years in the ministry. During his career, Bro. Mack has held numerous offices in the Southern Baptist Convention. He was a world traveler, and had been involved in several preaching crusades in places such as Brazil, Korea, and Hong Kong. In 1974, he was chosen as Louisiana Rural Pastor of the Year, and he was involved in many civic activities through the years. Pallbearers were the Deacons of First Baptist Church of Florien. They were Wallace Arrington, Bob Cook, Quinton Corley, Carnadus Davis, W. L. Dees, Ivan Harless, Hardy Hopkins, Jimmy Hughes, Michael Hyatt, Jimmy Leach, Leotis LeMaster, Sidney Lucius Sr., Buddy Mullen, J. B. Salter, Joe Salter, Gary Thompson, W. R.
