Barker 10 Apr 1959 - Funeral services for Richard Watson (Jack) Barker, age 37, who died at Merryville, March 29, were conducted at Pisgah Baptist church at 11 a.m. April 4 with Rev. Robert McCullough and Rev. W. H. Rose officiating. Interment was in Pisgah cemetery under the direction of Warren Funeral home. Mr. Barker was a veteran of World War II and served 2 1/2 years in the South Pacific with an engineers battalion as a PFC. He received the following decorations and citations. Asiatic Pacific campaign Medel with three bronze stars, Meritorius Unit Badge with 1 bronze cluster, Philippines Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star. Survivors are sisters, Mrs. J. L. Speir of Many, Mrs. J. W. Hale of Pasadena, Texas, Mrs. L. H. Lucius of Merryville; brother, Lee L. Barker of Conneaut, Ohio. At the time of his death he was employed in the logging industry at Merryville, La.
