Hospital, following a lengthy illness. She was 73. Funeral services were held at the Lake Arthur Funeral Home, at 2 p.m., on Monday, August 25. Burial was in the Catholic Cemetery at Lake Arthur. Surveyors include one daughter, Sandra Smith of San Francisco, Calif.; one son, Alford Broussard of Stonewall, Miss.; one grandson, Darrell Smith of San Francisco; five sisters, Audrey Wenner, and Ruth Dees, both of Lake Charles, and Lela Lowe, Ola Ellison, and Addie Petty, all of Many; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Mrs. Broussard was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Broussard, who died in Oct. 1984. Born in Sabine Parish, to Mr. and Mrs. Ross Alford, she was one of ten children. She and her siblings were raised on a small farm in the Jerusalem community. Educated at the Many schools, Mrs. Broussard graduated from Many High in 1930, and then continued her education at La. Norman College in Natchitoches. She received her degree at Southwestern University in Lafayette. Thirty-eight years were devoted to a teaching career. She was a fifth grade teacher at Lake Arthur. Mrs. Broussard was an active member of the Methodist Church. Since retirement, she had enjoyed traveling.
