George W. Byrd

  George W. Byrd, 96 of Robeline, died in Schumpert Medical Center in
Shreveport on Monday, Dec. 29, at 4:25 a.m. Mr. Byrd died following
a lenghty illness.

  Mr. Byrd taught education in Fisher in 1913 and served in the
education in Sabine and Natchitoches Parishes for 37 years. He served
as principal in the parishes most of his years in education.

  He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Grace Byrd of Natchitoches; one
son, Grover Byrd of Shreveport; two daughters, Miss Linda Byrd of
Shreveport, and Mrs. Lucille Dean of Logansport; four grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren.

  Funeral services, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral
Home, were held at the Cedren Baptist Church with the Rev Luther
Despino officiating on Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 10 a.m. Interment
followed at Foshee Cemetery.
