Mattie Byrd

  Mrs. Mattie Byrd, 64, of Shreveport, died in the LSU Hospital in
Shreveport, on Monday, Dec. 25, at 6:14 a.m., following an
extended illness.

  Survivors include three sons, Jessie L. Byrd, Jr. of Shreveport,
Richard C. Byrd of Vidor, Tex., and Teddy Louis Byrd of Florien;
four daughters, Mrs. Della McLendon of Florien, Mrs. Myrna Moss
of Orange, Tex., Mrs. Martha Moore of Hornbeck, and Mrs. Nelia
Herring of Bossier city; one brother, J. B. Walker of Many; one
sister, Mrs. LaBency Savell of Many; 16 grandchildren; and four
great grandchildren.

  Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 27, in
the Lakeside Baptist Church. The Rev. C. V. Chance officiated.
Burial was in the Clearwater Cemetery, under the direction of the
Warren Meadows Funeral Home.
