Kenneth Leach officiating. Interment was at Beulah Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Mr. Byrd died at Fraser Hospital North, at 11:10 a.m., due to an extended illness. He was 69. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mavis Byrd of Many; five sons, William Leonard Byrd of Many, Fred Thomas Byrd of Franklin, Tenn., Ray King of Tyler, Tex., Gerald King of Hawkins, Tex., and James Nelson of Pittsburgh, Ca.; six daughters, Mary Jane Byrd of Nashville, Tenn., Betty Marie Selby, and Sue Ellen Weaver, both of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Barbara Schofield, Catherine Snow, and Francis Slaughter, all of Many; a brother, Herman Nolan Byrd of Concord, Ca.; two sisters, Bertha Inez Hutchinson, and Alice Elishe Carlisle, both of Montgomery, Ala.; 21 grandchildren, Debbie Gilliam, Joy Gilliam, Marie Gilliam, and Billy Sue Selby, all of Chattanooga, Tenn., Kally Ray King, and Christie Nelson, both of Tyler, Tex., Cynthia Byrd, and Michael Byrd, both of Atlanta, Ga., Fred Byrd III, Bryan Byrd, and Scotty Byrd, all of Franklin, Tenn., W. B. Snow of Pittsburgh, Ca., Ruth Ann Spero of Concord, Ca., and Cathy Gregory, Mitzi Snow, Letha Snow, Gary Slaughter, Kenneth Mullins, William C. Schofield, Ray Snow, and Phyllis King, all of Many; eight grandchildren, Pamela Gregory, Dewayne Gregory, Tony Slaughter, and Michelle Slaughter, all of Many, Michael Spero of Concord, Ca., and Cindy King, Sherrel King, and Candy King, all of Tyler, Tex.
