Byrd, 48, of Bossier City, died at 1:10 p.m., Wednesday, May 9, 1984, at 1:10 p.m., Wednesday, May 9, 1984, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 11, at the Rose-Neath's Marshall Street Chapel, with the Rev. W. O. Lynch Jr. officiating. Rev. Lynch is pastor of the Noel Memorial United Methodist Church, where Mr. Byrd was a member. Burial was in the Ft. Jesup Cemetery at Ft. Jesup, with graveside services at 2:30 p.m., on the same day. Mr. Byrd was a native of Sabine Parish, and graduated from Many High School in 1954. He went onto Louisiana Tech in Ruston, and four years later received his B. A. Degree. He went into the U. S. Army, and took his basic training at Ft. Chaffie, Ark., and Ft. Benning, Ga., and then served in Germany for 18 months. After being discharged in 1960, Byrd went to work for the First National Bank in Shreveport, and remained with them for 12 years. He then went to work for the Louisiana Bank and Trust Co., and at the time of his death, was a vice president, and trust officer of the bank. He was a member of the Estate Planning Council, a member and past president of the Ballet Lyrique, and a member of the Tax Institute. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marilyn H. Byrd of Bossier City; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Byrd of Many; two daughters, Shannon Byrd, and Stephanie Byrd of Bossier City, and many other relatives and loved ones. Pallbearers were Don Barkley, Tim Keith, Mike Drummond, James Gains, Jim Lyons, and Michael Jerding.
