  Luther Byrd - December 6, 1973

  Luther Byrd, 70, of the Mt. Carmel Community died in Many on
Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 4:45 a.m. following an extended illness.

  Byrd is survived by his widow, Mrs. Christine Byrd, three sons,
Ottis Byrd of Jackson, Miss. Floyd E. Byrd of Shreveport, Larry
T. Byrd of Tulsa, Okla.; one brother, Joseph Bryd of Mt. Carmel;
seven sisters, Mrs. Effie Oxley, Warren Community; Mrs. Emma
Oxley, Shreveport; Mts. Eula Mae Alford, Many, Mrs. Pearl
Patrick, Many; Mrs. Lula Ross, Negreet; Mrs. Ruth Enis, Bossier
City, Mrs. Oma Chance, Mt. Carmel; and five grandchildren.

  Funeral services were held at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church on
Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Phil Tisdale
officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
