There was a memorial service held at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral in Shreveport, at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15. Miss Barret was born Aug. 22, 1904, in Robeline. She attended Louisiana Tech, and taught at the Shrine Hospital for Crippled Children in Shreveport for a number of years. In the early stages of World War II, Miss Barret joined the American National Red Cross. She was sent to the Mediterranean Theatre of Operations, with the Twenty First General Hospital in November 1942. Miss Barret worked in North Africa and Italy, serving in varied capacities. She returned to the States in November 1947, and went to work at the Shrine Hospital for two more years. In 1950, Miss Barret again went to work for the American National Red Cross. She worked in V. A. Hospitals in Disaster Service, and with the Blood Program on the West Coast, and in many of the Southern States, until her retirement. Miss Barret was a member of St. Marks Episcopal Cathedral. At her request, her body was donated to the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport. She is survived by her nephews Hollingsworth B. Marshall of Allendale Plantation, Stonewall, Dr. Henry Marshall of the Netherlands; and her niece, Sarah M., Hedrick of Phoenixville, Pa. She is also survived by six grand nephews, Barret, Wesley, and Nathaniel Marshall of Stonewall, Adam, and David Marshall of Houston, Tex., and Christopher Hedrick of Phoenixville, Pa.
