Marvis L. Byrd

  Funeral services for Marvis L. Byrd, 76, were held at 2 p.m., on
Monday, Dec. 11, at the Beulah Baptist Church in Many, under the
direction of Les Fontaine Funeral Home.

  Mrs. Byrd was born January 30, 1919, in Sabine Parish, and
entered into rest, Dec. 7, in Tyler, Tex. She attained the age of
76 years, 10 months, and 7 days. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Frank L. Byrd; her son, Purvis King; daughter, Catherine
Snow; and two brothers, Wiley, and Stafford Rogers.

  Survivors are three sons, Gerald King, Charles Ray King, and
James Nelson of Chandler, Tex.; two daughters, Bobbie Schofield
of Chandler, Tex., and Frances Slaughter of Many; three sisters,
Maudie Warden of Baton Rouge, Bertie Powell of Leesville, and
Neva Nield of Houston, Tex.; four brothers, Bob Rogers, and
Carson Rogers of Many, L. C. Spears of Houston, Herman Rogers of
Chalmette; 12 grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren;
numerous nieces, nephews; and a host of other relatives and
friends.
