The local Sheriff's Dept. received a call from the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Dept., that Broadway had been DOA, with a gunshot wound in the stomach, at the Natchitoches hospital. "We sent two of our deputies to the scene," Sheriff Cook explained. "They reported finding blood near the front door, inside the Broadway home. They also found an empty rifle slug on the floor in the next room." According to reports, Broadway had allegedly been fighting with his wife, prior to the shooting. Broadway allegedly went outside his home and began firing a .22 pistol. He allegedly walked around the side of the house, and broke two panes out of a window. Reports indicate that Broadway came back around to the front door, and came inside, where he was shot. Arrested in connection with the shooting was Broadway's 15 year old son. Local deputies arrested the youth at a neighbor's home, following an investigation of the scene. Broadway was shot once in the stomach with a .20 gauge shotgun. He died en route to the hospital. The Broadway home borders the Natchitoches-Sabine Parish line. The youth was booked on a murder charge, and incarcerated in the Sabine Parish Jail. A $10,000 cash bond was posted for his release at 10:25 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6. Funeral services for Julius Broadway were held Sunday, Nov. 7, at 2 p.m., in the Rocky Mount Methodist Church. The Rev.
