Bridges, 71, of Bastrop, were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 29, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home, with the Rev. L. H. McCullough officiating. Burial was in Christ Church Cemetery, for Dr. Bridges, who died at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 27, in Morehouse General Hospital, after a short illness. A graduate of Atlanta Southern Dental School (Emory University) at Atlanta, Ga., Dr. Bridges had been a dentist in Bastrop for 45 years. He was a lifetime member of the Fifth District Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. He was also a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Pauline Bridges of Bastrop; two sons, Murray Bridges of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Carlisle Bridges of Bastrop; one daughter, Mrs. Velda Calender of Anchorage, Alaska; four brothers, John Bridges of Mansfield, R. L. Bridges of Natchitoches, Lemuel L. Bridges of Victoria, Tex., and Orel Bridges of Lafayette; four sisters, Mrs. Augie Gaddis, and Mrs. Clinton Martin, both of Shreveport, Mrs. Richard Anderson, and Mrs. Joseph Spohrer, both of Baton Rouge; and seven grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jimmy Life, Dr. Claude Pratt, Dr. James Ogden, Dr. Douglas Keller, Dr. John Garrett, and Dr. Don Quinn. Dr. Bridges had many relatives and friends in Sabine and DeSoto Parishes.
