Born in 1867 in Hebron, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. T. D. Bush. Rev. Bush is remembered as a "builder of Baptist churches" in the state of Louisiana, having been one of the organizers and first pastors of the First Baptist church in Many. Miss Nannie married the late James N. Bridges and moved to Pleasant Hill in 1916 where Mr. Bridges was a partner in Bridges Sawmill and Lumber Co. She received her education at the old Keatchi College and is believed to be one of the last survivors of that institution of learning. Miss Nannie was a devout Christian, a devoted worker in the Baptist church, attending services the past five years in her wheel chair where she was confined after a fall and injury. Her life was a great inspiration to many for all of her many years as evidenced by the host of friends paying respect to her. Rev. Cecil Salley and Rev. Melvin Prothro conducted the services in the church she loved and helped build and each pointed out how Miss Nannie had influenced their lives in the ministry of the church. She is survived by one son, R. J. Bridges of Pleasant Hill, three daughters, Mrs. L. C. Roberson of Houston, Mrs. E. E. Randall of Baton Rouge and Mrs. Ouida Strain of Pleasant Hill; five sisters, Mrs. Virginia Rich of Mansfield, Mrs. S. D. Jordan of Beaumont, Mrs. C. E. Williamson of Baton Rouge, Mrs. Willie Mae Elwood of California and Mrs. E. R. Gandy of Alexandria, six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
