Huey Eugene Birdwell

  Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Sunday, Dec. 1, for
Huey Eugene Birdwell, 24, of Shreveport. Services were at the
Southside Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Officiating was the
Rev. Robert Radford, associate pastor of the Oakmont Church of
God, and the Rev. Donald Doggett, pastor of the Jennings Chapel
Congregational Methodist Church in Marthaville.

  A second service was held at 2 p.m., Sunday, in the Jennings
Chapel Congregational Methodist Church at Marthaville. Burial was
in Bethany Cemetery at Marthaville. Services were under direction
of Rose-Neath Funeral Home.

  The 24 year old Shreveport man was dead on arrival at Willis
Knighton Hospital, early Friday, Dec. 1, after being crushed
between a tractor-trailer rig, and a loading dock. The accident
occurred at a private lot on the Flornoy-Lucas Road at 2:46 a.m.

  The rig was being backed up for unloading when Birdwell
apparently went behind the truck, according to investigating
officers of the Shreveport Police Dept.

  Birdwell was given emergency treatment by the Shreveport Fire
Department's Rescue Squad at the scene.

  He had been a lifetime Shreveport resident. He graduated from
Southwood High School in 1972. He was a truck driver for the J.
T. Gentry Co.

  Survivors include his widow, Susan Birdwell of Shreveport; his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Odell Birdwell of Shreveport; his paternal
grandmother, Lottie Birdwell of Marthaville; two sisters, Linda
Birdwell, and Carolyn Birdwell, both of Shreveport; three
brothers, Roy Birdwell of Dallas, Bruce Birdwell of Shreveport,
and Gary Birdwell of Marthaville.

  Pallbearers were Donald Litton, Carl Birdwell, Coy Birdwell,
George Birdwell, Winston Birdwell, Dennis Birdwell, and Stacey
Birdwell.
