Birdwell were Saturday, March 12, 1994, at 2 p.m., at the Jennings Chapel Congregational Methodist Church, with the Rev. Wesley Harrellson, I. D. Noble, and Bill Harty officiating. Burial followed in the Bethany Cemetery. Mr. Birdwell, 60, of Marthaville, died Thursday, March 10, at his residence. He was a retired Park Ranger for the North Toledo Bend State Park, and formerly at Los Adias in Robeline, and Fort St. Jean Baptiste in Natchitoches, with 18 years of service. He was a volunteer fireman for the Bethany Fire Dept. Survivors include his wife, Mary Birdwell of Marthaville; his mother, Lottie Birdwell of Marthaville; one son, Mike Birdwell of Marthaville; three daughters, Brenda Birdwell, and Kathy Prothro, both of Marthaville, and Becky Kniffin of Gilmer, Tex.; four brothers, Hoyt Birdwell, Raymond Birdwell, Herman Birdwell, and Vernon Birdwell, all of Marthaville; four grandchildren, Misti Birdwell Sullivan of Lufkin, Tex., Chris Birdwell, and Meagan Prothro of Marthaville, Leighton Kniffin of Gilmer, Tex.; and one great grandchild, Lindsay Sullivan of Lufkin, Tex. Pallbearers will be Bobby Birdwell, Mervin Birdwell, Hal Birdwell, Gary Birdwell, Steve Birdwell, Mott Birdwell, Richard Jennings, and Keith Birdwell. Visitation was Friday from 4 p.m. until service time, in the church, Saturday.
