Carmel, died in Florien, Sept. 22, at 9 a.m., due to a sudden illness. Funeral services were held Sept. 23, at the Florien First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Woodrow Wilson officiating. Interment was at Lewing Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home of Many. Survivors include a son, J. Hugh Berel of Pineville; Mrs. Louise Nugent of Pineville, daughter; Sam Berel, Florien, brother; sisters, Mrs. Charles Bonomo, Shreveport, Mrs. Charles Jackson, and Mrs. Robert Williams, both of Florien, and Mrs. Johnny Hollis of Vidor, Tex.; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; and one step grandchild. Pallbearers are Gene Nugent, Marvin Williams, Charles Jackson, J. L. Berel, Tommy Nugent, Ray Williams, Bobby Williams, and Billy Berel.
