Oscar Gene Burleson, 40, of Hornbeck died at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 27, in Many Hospital, following an extended illness. He was a Baptist minister. Funeral services were held in the Hornbeck First Baptist Church, May 29, at 2 p.m., under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville. The Rev. Jason Kay officiated, assisted by the Rev. T. J. Crosby, the Rev. Ken Goode, and the Rev. L. R. Chance. Interment was in Self Cemetery in Hornbeck. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Fern Bridges Burleson; two daughters, Rhonda Joyce Burleson, and Karen Lynne Burleson; his mother, Mrs. Nancy Self Burleson, all of Hornbeck; four brothers, C. D. of Hornbeck, Johnnie Paul of Great Lakes, Ill., Benny Joe of Austin, Tex., and Charles Alfed of Alexandria; two sisters, Mrs. Lorena Stringer of Hornbeck, and Mrs. Geneva Anderson of Logansport. Pallbearers at the funeral were Bryan Poston, Herbert Herring, W. S. McGraw, Charles Spears, Kenneth Baggs, and Bobby Evans.
