Ralph Brown, 49, of Lake Charles died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, March 28 at a Lake Charles hospital. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, March at Trinity Baptist Church. The Rev. Steve James, pastor, officiated. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. at Prewitt's Chapel Cemetery in Hornbeck. The Rev. Huey Haymond officiated. The Rev. Brown was a native of Hornbeck and had lived in Lake Charles for the past four years. He was a graduate of Hornbeck High School and received his Bachelors Degree from Louisiana College and his masters degree from Southwest Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. The Rev. Brown had served as Minister of Youth at Calvary Baptist Church in Alexandria and had served at First Baptist Church in Edmond, Okla., as well as Southside Baptist Church in Palestine, Texas. He had served as Minister of Education at Trinity Baptist Church since January of 1994. He also served in the U. S. Navy "Seabees" during the Vietnam Conflict. Survivors include his widow, Myra Lee Allen Brown of Lake Charles; one son, Keith Brown of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Karen Brown of Lake Charles; two sisters, Glenda McInnis and Sue Dowden, both of Hornbeck; and his mother, Lera M. Ellzey Brown of Hornbeck. Memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society, Hope Lodge Cleveland, Ohio. Johnson Funeral Home Lake Charles, La.
