C. B Brown was held at the Pleasant Hill Methodist church on Friday the 19th with Rev. D. L. Dykes of Natchitoches officiating, assisted by the pastor, Rev. W. M. Beadle, and the Baptist pastor, Rev. F. A. Roberts, with the following pallbearers: Herbert Mosely, Bus, Bridges, Will Freeman, C. V. Litton, G. H. Yearwood and Sam Darnell. Honorary pallbearers: Louis Murry, P. B. Aldredge, Rev. Webb Ross and Leroy Davis. Mrs. Brown has been a shut-in for the last seven years, but even in this time she was constantly thinking of doing some good to help some one else, and by her cheerful disposition her friends always found pleasure in visiting her. She was a devoted member of the Methodist church since young womanhood, was a great worker in the missionary society and up until the time of her sickness was zone leader of this district and it was with sorrow she had to give up the work. For the past several years she has reserved the right to arrange the baskets of flowers for the church and never did she fail in doing this act to beautify the house of worship. She loved to attend and many expressions of admiration as to who artistically this was done even when she was unable to be up. Mrs. Brown was the daughter of a pioneer Sabine officer, Jehu Graham, and received her education at Fort Jesup college, of which her father was connected. She had been married to J. C. Brown for 45 years and the husband with the following children survive her: J. C. Brown, Jr., of Greenwood, Ind.; Wilder Brown of Jackson, Miss.; Hartley Brown of Chilton, Texas; Everett Brown of Houston, Texas,; Mrs. Leslie Prothro of Longview, Texas; eight grandchildren of which Miss Hazel Bankston of Longview, Texas is the eldest, besides a large circle of friends who greatly mourn her passing. After all earthly power was done for her recovery, we feel that her life's work was ended and she had just gone on before to her reward. To her husband and children we would point to them her beautiful Christian life that should beckon them to follow the Guide in whom she trusted even to the end. Beneath a beautiful. canopy of rare flowers she was laid to rest in the cemetery at Pleasant Hill by the side of her beloved daughter who preceded her by a few years. The funeral was beautifully conducted by the Drewitt funeral home.
