Brown Sr., 72, of Shreveport, died at 9 a.m., Friday, Sept. 24, at his residence, after a sudden illness. Services were at 1 p.m., Saturday, in Pruett's Chapel in Hornbeck, with the Rev. James Chreene, and the Rev. Claude Duncan officiating. Burial was in Pruett's Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Brown, a native of Hornbeck, lived in Shreveport 50 years. He was a retired, self employed roofer. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Rosie Lee Brown of Shreveport; two sons, Sammie L. Brown, and Roy H. Brown Jr., both of Shreveport; three sisters, Mrs. Obra Shaw of Shreveport, Mrs. Mammie Waldrop, and Mrs. Ruby Waldrop, both of Houston, Tex.; four brothers, Clarence Brown, and Luther Brown, both of Shreveport, Homer Brown of Florien, and Gary Brown of Baton Rouge; seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Pallbearers were John L. Creech, Evan C. Creech, Olin Creech, Jim L. Childs, Earnest Shaw, and Patrick Shaw.
