All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Dr. John Daniel Brown Services for Dr. John Daniel Brown, 80, of Ventura, Calif., were held at the First Baptist Church in Florien, at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 4, with the Rev. Wheeler, the Rev. Bill Foil, and the Rev. J. L. Pollard officiating. Interment was in the Florien Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home of Many. Dr. Brown died at the Ventura Community Memorial Hospital on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 11 a.m. Dr. Brown, born in Alabama, August 29, 1900, entered the ministry in 1933, as pastor of a Baptist Church in Birmingham, Ala. He served as pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, where he and his wife were married; pastor of South San Antonio Baptist Church in San Antonio, Tx., and pastor of First Baptist Church in Beverly Hills, Ca., until he retired in 1965. He was very active in Southern Baptist denominational work, and was on Radio Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention in Baptism one year, and was very active in evangelistic work, and helping to organize missions. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nell Addison Brown of Ventura, Calif.; one son, J. D. Brown, Jr.; and one daughter, Gera Comfort, both of Birmingham, Ala.; three sisters, Elizabeth Rassmussen, Houston, Tx., Edna Gordon, Escatawpa, Miss., and Mary Culpepper of Keewanee, Miss., eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
