At the time of her death, she was a resident of Live Oak, a Multi-Faith Retirement Center. She was born and raised in Sabine Parish, close to the little community of Mitchell. Upon her graduation from Oak Grove High School, she moved to Shreveport. She was a founding staff member of Home Federal Savings and Loan, in the mid 1920's, but most of her career was as office manager for the late Reverend Jack T. Moore. The last ten years of her career were spent as manager of Plantation Park Apartments in Bossier City. She retired 12 years ago, at the age of 70. Her career also included a proficiency in gardening, and for many years, she served as Mid-South Editor of Flower and Garden Magazine. She served for two years as national treasurer of the Garden Writers' Association of America, an organization in which she maintained her membership, until her death. She was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church, and until her illness, was active in the Ruth Sunday School Class. At Live Oak, where she lived for more than five years, she served as treasurer of the Resident's Council, and as Wildflower Chairman for that organization. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Winona and Hugh Ward of Shreveport, and Betty and Paul Clay Jr., of Colorado Springs. She is also survived by one sister, Ruby Hall Nicholson of Shreveport; seven grandchildren; one great granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Fletcher Ward, Mitchell Clay, Paul Clay III, Herman Williamson Jr., Alan James, and George Sirven. Flornoy Lucas Road, Shreveport, 71115, or Mexican Indian Missionary Training Center, c/o Dr. John Hall, 625 Market St., 71101.
