Brown Funeral services for Mrs. Bernice C. Brown, 71, were held at 10 a.m., Friday, September 28, at the Rose-Neath's Mansfield Chapel, with the Rev. McNair Smith officiating. Interment followed in the Smyrna Cemetery near Grand Cane. Mrs. Brown, the mother of former District Judge W. Charles Brown, died Wednesday, September 26, at Willis Knighton Medical Center in Shreveport, after a brief illness. She was a five year resident of Natchitoches, and was a former longtime resident of Longstreet. Mrs. Brown was a member of Hewitt Memorial Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by one son, George Terrell Brown. Survivors include her husband, W. Calvin Brown of Natchitoches; two sons, W. Charles Brown of Mansfield, and P. Ronald Brown of Natchitoches; and four grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Donald Brown, Robert Brown, David Mason, Sammy Brown, Randall Brown, and Ray Hill. Memorials may be made to Smyrna Cemetery Association, or charity of choice.
