Brown, 80, died Monday, Aug. 3, in Welsh. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, with interment following at Lacassine Cemetery. The Rev. Whitney Miller officiated. Mr. Brown was a native of Florien, and a resident of Welsh most of his life. He was a WWII Army veteran. He owned and operated Brown's Appliance for 40 years. He was also a member of American Legion, VFW, Woodman of the World, Our Lady of Seven Dolors, and was a past volunteer fireman. Survivors include his widow, Gertrude Brown of Welsh; two daughters, Glynetta Phenice of Lafayette, and Tina LeBas of Nashville, Tenn.; two sons, Darwin Brown, and Donald Brown, both of Welsh; one stepson, Richard Sclater of Albany, Ga.; one stepdaughter, Susie Sutter of Welsh; two brothers, Keith Brown of Welsh, and Carl Brown of Florien; two sisters, Grace Harrington of DeRidder, and Gladys Robinson of Jennings; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one step grandchild. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma Brown. Hixson Funeral Home, Welsh, La.
