Brown was born Aug. 17, 1920, in Fulton, Mo. She passed on at Sabine Medical Center in Many. At the age of 15, she started dating Frank Brown, 17, and six years later, they became Mr. and Mrs. She provided loving support to an inquisitive, answer seeking artist husband. Together they raised a son, Larry S. Brown. During their 60 years of wonderful marriage they lived in Fulton, Mo., Chicago, Ill., Faragut, Ind., Akron, Ohio, Washington, D.C., Dallas, Texas, Baton Rouge, Natchitoches, Many, and then they took the wheels off and settled down near Toledo Town. During those 60 years, Tena was president of Dallas PTA, had one of the first call-in TV programs, was president of Las Colonas Country Club women's golf association, and along the way she helped raise three unrelated children. Tena loved to play golf. In fact there was time when she played five days a week, occasionally seven. Her love of golf never interfered with being a loving mother, wife, and a terrific homemaker. In June 2001, Tena was diagnosed as having cancer in her right lung. She received two months of radiation treatment at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria. For two months, she was able to take care of herself. She returned home with the cancer in remission and feeling fine. For two months, she was able to take care of herself, before her condition started going downhill. She received emergency treatment at Sabine Medical Center in Many for two weeks. Tena died Jan. 10, 2002. She had two sisters, Dorothy Stidham of Carmel, Ind., Betty Ruth Thomas of Fulton, Mo.; son, Larry S. Brown of Pueblo, Colo.; daughter, Lynette Van of Seagoville, Texas; and husband, Frank S. Brown. Thanks to all the friends of Tena who offered love and encouragement during her illness, and thanks to the doctors, nurses, and supportive personnel. Cremation was handled by Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
