All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Steve Brumfield A 60 year old Many black died while picking peas at the James Cotton place, located off Highway 6 east, Sunday afternoon, Aug. 3, at 1 p.m. Steve Brumfield and several others were busy picking peas in the hot sun when Brumfield apparently fell out. Jenkins Ambulance Service responded to the call, but Brumfield had expired at the scene. According to a funeral home spokesman, Brumfield had been treated for high blood pressure, and had possibly suffered a stroke. A definite cause of death had not been established as of press time. Brumfield is survived by several brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, at 2 p.m., in the New Jerusalem Church. Jenkins Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
