Burns, 71, were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, in the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Alvin Strother, and the Rev. Eugene Coriell officiating. Burial with Masonic graveside rites, were in the Castor Cemetery, under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Mr. Burns died Monday, Sept. 27. Survivors include his widow; three sons, John D. Burns Sr. of Lake Charles, Carnie Burns, and Billy John Burns, both of Anacoco; three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Miller of Florien, Mrs. Stella Steliga of Milwaukee, Wis., and Mrs. Lola Slay of Shreveport; two brothers, Wilburn Burns of Hineston, and B. M. Burns of Alexandria; five sisters, Mrs. Dellie Carlock, and Mrs. Oillie Bass, both of Hineston, Mrs. Mae Roberts of Alexandria, Mrs. Lenna Willis of Glenmora, and Mrs. Avis Salter of Leesville; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
