Interment followed in the Spring Ridge Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield. Brother E. W. Goldman officiated. Mr. Barnes died Thursday, May 24, at 7 a.m., in the DeSoto General Hospital in Mansfield. Mr. Barnes was born in Ravenna, Texas. He had resided in Pleasant Hill for the past twenty years. Mr. Barnes was a farmer, having produced cotton, soybeans, and rice. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in George West, Texas. He is survived by four sons, Kenneth L. Barnes of Pleasant Hill, Jimmy D. Barnes of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Ronnie D. Barnes of Pleasant Hill, and Doyle L. Barnes of George West, Texas; two daughters, Fay Brown, and Sharron Barnes, both of Pleasant Hill; one sister, Ada Cooper of George West, Texas; three brothers, J. D. Barnes of De Sarc, Arkansas, Bryan Barnes of Goodrich, Texas, and Tom Barnes of White Wright, Texas; and eight grandchildren, Cathy Barnes, Becky Brown, Shelley Brown, Dustin Barnes, Jason Barnes, Lori Barnes, Brandt Barnes, and Tony Barnes. He was preceded in death by one son, Eugene Barnes. Pallbearers were Jesse Ray Waddle, Bobby Waddle, Buddy Free, Marshall Estes, Jimmy Brown, and Bobby Lewis.
