Branson of Belmont, died Monday, Aug. 17, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 19, in the Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel. A Masonic Graveside service will follow at Belmont Cemetery. Major Bronson was born Oct. 10, 1920, in Orland, Calif. He retired in 1962, from the United States Air Force. Later, in 1975, he retired from the State of California, and moved to Belmont to make his home. He was a member of the Union Baptist Church in Belmont, and had served as Church Clerk, Secretary of the Bible School, and a member of the Executive Board for many years. Major Branson was a past Master of Mitchell Lodge #252 in Converse. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, and York Rite. He was a past president of Many Shrine, Patron of Converse Chapter #218 Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the El Karubah Temple of Shreveport. He was also a past Grand Patron of the Grand Chapter Order of Eastern Star, State of La., 1990-91. Survivors include his widow, Jo Austin Branson; one son, Stephen and wife Angela; one foster son, Donald Arnold; five grandchildren, Christy, Heather, Roanna, Traci, and Craig; three great grandchildren; one brother, Robert B. Branson of Salem, Oregon; three sisters, Lucille Kvisvik of Vashon, Wash., Peggy Steinheimer of Reno, Nev., and Alice Atkinson of Sacramento, Calif.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Major Branson was preceded in death by his mother, Erlie Stockwell of Medford, Ore.; and a brother, Kenneth Branson. We will always love and miss you Papa. Warren Meadows, Many, La.
