She was born in Florien. As the middle child of 10 children, Ruth was raised to work hard, laugh often, and love the Lord. She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age, and has been a faithful servant her entire life. She was a charter member of Westbury Baptist Church in Houston, and a founder of its youth ministry there. In Austin, she devotedly attended Great Hills Baptist Church. Ruth loved music and singing. Two of her favorite hymns were "Great Is Thy Faithfulness', and "It Is Well With My Soul", which she would often sing in harmony with her family. Ruth had a child-like spirit, and was fond of children. She always kept gum in the kitchen drawer, and bingo prizes in the closet for the grandchildren. She surrounded herself with flowers, plants, trees, and water fountains, as she loved nature dearly. Ruth had a romantic heart. Ruth Lilley Barnett is preceded in death by her loving husband, John L. Barnett. Survivors include her two daughters, June Yost, and Jane Walton; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; long time friend and companion of the heart, Paul Glaab and his family. Funeral services were held April 10, at Memorial Chapel at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home, with Ruth's family conducting the service in celebration of her life. Graveside services were held at 1 p.m., April 11, in Florien.
