Copeland 9 Sep 1949 - The condition of Mrs. Robert L. Copeland, who was seriously injured last Friday in an automobile accident which took the live of her husband, a 63-year-old merchant of Bronson, Texas is reported improved at Allen sanitarium, Converse. The accident occurred on U. S. highway 171 last Friday afternoon. As the Copelands turned into the driveway of Allen sanitarium they were struck from the rear by a Herrin company transportation truck. The truck driver, C. Knight, escaped injury. Mr. Copeland suffered a fractured pelvis, internal injuries and severe shock. He died at the sanitarium two hours later. Mrs. Copeland was hospitalized for rib fracture and severe chest injuries. The Copelands were arriving from Bronson, Texas to visit his brother, Joe, who was ill at Allen sanitarium. Funeral services for deceased were held 2 p.m. Sunday from Union Springs Baptist church near Mansfield, Interment was in Union Springs cemetery with arrangements by Drewitt funeral home of Mansfield. Mr. Copeland is survived by his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Ray E. Droddy, Lake Charles and Mrs. J. F. DeSoto, Bronson, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Robertson, Converse; two brothers Joe of Converse and George Copeland of Oklahoma, and two grandchildren.
