Cooper Jr., 71, of Pelican, died Friday, July 17, in Shreveport. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 20, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Mansfield, with interment following at Pelican Cemetery. Bro. Denzil Bolton officiated, and Bro. Roland George assisted. Mr. Cooper was a veteran of the U.S. Army, WWII. He was a retired forester for the Dept of Agriculture, and La. Forestry. Survivors include his widow, Patricia R. Cooper of Pelican; three sons, Billy Joe Blankenship and wife Sheila of Pelican, Andy Blankenship and wife Sherry of Coushatta, and Timothy Cooper and wife Jolene of Belmont; one daughter, Salley "Lisa" Cooper of Pelican; one sister, Mickey Challis and husband Carl of Kilgore, Texas; six grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives.
