Coburn, 49, a Shreveport Veterans' Service Officer for Caddo Parish, died at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 20, in P&S Hospital, after a brief illness. Mr. Coburn was a native of Florien, and had been a resident of Shreveport for 22 years. He was active in the affairs of American Legion's Lowe-McFarlane Post here, having served as Captain of the United Fund Drive at one time. He was a member of the Caddo Heights Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 22, in Caddo Heights Baptist Church. Gordon, and Chaplain Lowell Todd of the Veterans Administration Hospital, officiating. Burial was in Forest Park, with American Legion graveside rites. Arrangements were under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Mr. Coburn is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ruby Coburn; two daughters, Helen Jean, and Juanita Anne; and one son, the Rev. Harold M. Coburn, all of Shreveport; four brothers, H. O. Coburn, and Newman Coburn of Florien, Notman Coburn of Beaumont, Tex., and Crit Coburn of Mora; four sisters, Mrs. Arizona Slater, and Mrs. Lorinda Miles, both of Houston, Tex., Mrs. Leona Duggan of Florien, and Mrs. Carmenia Clements of Mansfield.
