Ms. Cooke, a licensed practical nurse in Opelousas, died at 3:10 p.m., Thursday, June 18, 1987, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette. She was a resident of Many for several years, serving as a LPN at Fraser Hospital, following her graduation from Sabine Valley Voc-Tech School. Survivors include her father, Deloy Spears of Hornbeck; two daughters, April Cooke, and Sarah Cooke, both of Opelousas; a brother, Richard Spears of Port Barre; two sisters, Mary Louise Fitts of Garland, Texas, and Dawne Dees of Many. Services were directed by Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home, and burial was in a cemetery on Old Sunset Road near her residence in Opelousas.
