All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mr. Victor Woodrow Chase Mr. Victor Woodrow Chase was reunited with his wife, Mae Ross Chase, on Friday, March 23, 2001. He was residing in Grace Home in Shreveport. He had his daughter, Linda Chase Ferguson, son Zane Chase, son-in-law Joseph C. Ferguson Jr., daughter-in-law Junellen Osborne Chase, and niece Eleanor Cottrell by his side. Mr. Chase was born on the Ridge in New Durham, N. H., on November 15, 1918, to Fred and Ella Chase, and enjoyed childhood with his 13 sisters and brothers. World War II found Mr. Chase on maneuvers near Pleasant Hill, and he met and married Mae Ross before departing overseas for war. Mr. Chase attended a one room school house on New Durham Ridge, and completed eight grades. With Mae's encouragement, he received his GED, completed a Bachelor's degree in education from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, a Masters degree in 30 hours above his Masters in school administration, from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. In the early 1950's, Mae and Vic settled in Zwolle, and he is remembered by many as "Coach", and taught many high school students during his career with Sabine Parish Schools. He may also be remembered by some as "Vicha" the Magician, and he delighted many young and old alike with his magic shows. He is also remembered as "Grizzly" by many of his hunting friends throughout the Parish. His grandchildren, Honour Ferguson Zucco and her husband Anthony J. Zucco, Shana Chase Ellis and her husband Jon Ellis, Joseph C. Ferguson III and his wife Kay Elmore Ferguson, Kara Chase Landry and her husband Jay Landry, and great grandchildren, Jordan Zane Landry, and Caitlin Chase Zucco, will remember him as nothing less than "Grand" In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church, Zwolle, La., or Grace Home, 1035 Margaret Place, Shreveport, La., 71101.
