All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mr. Arthur Dale Cook (Photo) Mr. Arthur Dale Cook, 81, of Negreet, died on June 4, 2001, at Sabine Medical Center, after a lengthy battle with heart disease. Mr. Cook was born January 25, 1920, in Bozeman, Montana, to John and Mary Cook. He served in the United States army from July 20, 1942, to October 23, 1945. As Staff Sergeant, he received recognition in the African and European Theater of Operations during World war II. Mr. Cook, an active church member, was a deacon at Lakeside Baptist Church, from 1972 until his recent illness. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 6, at Lakeside Baptist Church, with interment following at Lakeside Cemetery. The Rev. C. V. Chance, the Rev. Vernon Stephenson, and the Rev. Frank Belsha officiated. The Disabled American Veterans paid a special tribute at the graveside. Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Lovie Mae Langton Cook. Survivors include one son, Derrell Cook and his wife Marguerite of Pearl, Miss.; daughter, Cookie Leach and husband Coleman of Jackson, Miss.; daughter, Janet Dowden and husband Glenn of Negreet; and one brother, Chester Cook of Fruita, Colo. He is also survived by four granddaughters, Wendy Cook, Heather Cook, Elizabeth Dowden, and Le-Ann Cook; and three great grandsons, Zachary Cook, David Cook, and Gabriel Dowden. Pallbearers were Mr. Cook's grandsons, Michael Leach, Jason Leach, Luke Dowden, Matthew Leach, and Chris Cook.
